Hydrofluoric acid and fluoroderivatives:
quality and reliability for the products of the future.
Production capacity and plant safety make ALKEEMIA the leading European industry in the field of fluorine uses.
The most extensive use open to fluorine processing is certainly the combinations it can give with compounds. Hydrofluoric acid is undoubtedly one of the most important: in addition to its use in the traditional chemical industry and laboratories, it is mainly used in the electronics, semiconductor, and solar energy industries for surface treatment.
Anhydrous Hydrofluoric Acid (AHF)
Produced at the plant in
Porto Marghera
END MARKETS
Fluoropolymers (PTFE, PVDF, PFA and others), refrigerants, agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, oil refining, petrochemicals
APPLICATIONS
AHF is a raw material for fluoropolymers, refrigerants, and fluorinated agro/pharmaceuticals. It acts as an alkylation catalyst in petroleum refining and petrochemicals
Chlorodifluoromethane
(R22)
Produced at the Frankfurt plant
END MARKETS
Fluoropolymers
APPLICATIONS
R22 is the precursor to some of the major fluoropolymers (PTFE and others)
Hydrofluoric acid
(HF) 40%
Produced at the plant in
Porto Marghera
END MARKETS
Steel, glass, ceramics, chemicals
APPLICATIONS
HF 40% is used in the pickling and etching of steel and glass, in the production of inorganic fluoroderivatives, and in many other applications
Hydrochloric acid
(HCl)
Produced at the Frankfurt plant
END MARKETS
Steel, chemicals, water treatment and others
APPLICATIONS
HCl is used in steel pickling, in the production of inorganic chlorinated compounds, pH control, and in the production of water treatment additives (PAC)
Calcium sulfate
Granular gypsum
Produced at the plant in
Porto Marghera
END MARKETS
Cement
APPLICATIONS
Gypsum is used by all cement manufacturers as an additive to adjust the setting time of cement
Calcium sulfate
Ground anhydrite
Produced at the plant in
Porto Marghera
END MARKETS
Construction, fertilizers
APPLICATIONS
Anhydrite is used for self-levelling floors, gypsum board and to contribute calcium and sulfates to fertilizers
Fluorosilicic acid
(FSA)
Produced at the plant in
Porto Marghera
END MARKETS
Inorganic fluorine chemistry
APPLICATIONS
FSA is a raw material for several inorganic fluoroderivatives
Logistics system
ALKEEMIA sells more than 90 percent of its anhydrous hydrofluoric acid production from Porto Marghera to its strategic partners via the rail system. The remaining part of production, as well as all by-products, is sent to customers by truck.
The main raw material, acid grade fluorspar, arrives by ship, which is unloaded and stored near the ALKEEMIA plant.
